Google Assistant starts shutting down on 4 September. Gemini takes over.

Google says it starts removing Google Assistant from 4 September 2026, rolling out over a few weeks, and Gemini replaces it on Android with no way to switch back. Older phones that cannot run Gemini, and countries where Gemini is not available, keep Assistant for now. Tell us how you feel about it and what you want when an app on your phone gets replaced.
